Riley’s Cycles began as Brian Hoppe cycles in 1971. In July 2013, Mike Riley took over the cycle shop and since then we have grown and employed more staff, increased our range of products and our customer base has increased.
See here for a Sherborne Times article written by Mike Riley about the shop’s history.
The business Directors David Hyland, Mike Riley and Tim Collins are all cycling enthusiasts and hands on partners, so you will often find them in the shop helping out and they are keen members of Sherborne Cycling Club. The Workshop is managed by Tory who is an experienced cyclist having raced in the US and a skilled and experienced mechanic.
Ethan works in the workshop and does sales. Ethan is ex-cycle racer and you will find him sometimes riding his bicycle on the Sherborne Cycling Club ride.
Fran is our administrator and is often the first contact you speak with on some days, when not working from home. In case you are wondering what her charming accent is, it is Dutch so cycling is in her DNA.
We also have part time staff. Glenn does the front of house and is keen cyclist and Iian works in the workshop.
Our workshop is a busy place and we endeavour to work efficiently on your bikes. To reduce interruptions Fran may greet you and direct your enquiry to the right person. We also need to control access to the workshop for insurance purposes, so please bear with us and don't give our staff a hard time if you cannot go into the workshop.
